The Arts

The Arts

"The arts are essential in life. They can shape and define who we are and how we understand ourselves and our possible selves."

The Arts are an integral part our school, they are embedded through our curriculum both as explicit art lessons and through links to drama, song and poetry. This has been recognised and celebrated in our recent achievement of Artsmark Gold. Artsmark Gold Validation Report Shoscombe Primary School

Our teaching of art is based on the Art National Curriculum Art Programmes of Study

In addition to our regular art lessons, we hold an annual Arts Week. During this week we invite local artist Edwina Bridgeman to lead a whole school art installation. Edwina is an artist who is passionate about using recycled materials in art, which links well with the aims of the current Erasmus Project – Respect, Re-Use, Re-Cycle. Many of the works from previous Arts Week projects can still be viewed around school.
