Lunches
Children are offered a range of hot meals daily. These are provided by Westfield school kitchen. Children can also bring their own packed lunch. Children eat their lunch in our school hall every day.
How do I order hot dinners?
Shoscombe school hot dinners are supplied from kitchens within our Multi Academy Trust. You will need to order your child’s meals through ParentPay, here you will be able to pre-order meals, view recipes, allergens and ingredients. You will receive a letter from ParentPay prior to your child staying for school dinners. Currently reception and key stage one school dinners are funded by the Government. School dinners need to be ordered by the Thursday of the week before you order. You will need to send your child in with a packed lunch on any days for which you haven’t ordered a school dinner.
Please speak to the school office if you have any questions.
Packed Lunches
Please check that your child can open and close his/her own lunch box and that any drink containers are watertight and spill-proof. In warm weather a small ice pack (available from supermarkets) is advisable as we have no refrigeration facilities for lunch boxes.
Please do not send nuts or seeds as there is a danger of choking on them, and there are members of our school community who have allergies to nuts and seeds.
At our school we are promoting a healthy eating awareness programme with our children and parents. Please look at the fat and sugar content of your child’s food. We have the support of the school medical and dental service and more advice is available upon request.
Snacks and drinks
Children in Reception and Key Stage 1 will be given a mid-morning snack consisting of a piece of raw fruit or vegetable under the government’s National Fruit & Vegetable Scheme, along with a carbohydrate snack such as a breadstick or rice cake. Please ensure you tell staff if your child has any allergies or dietary requirements.
Children in Key Stage 2 can bring their own snack in from home for mid-morning break time. Please promote healthy eating wherever possible if sending in snacks.
FREE MILK is available at this time to under 5’s, and children who will have reached the age of 5 years may order milk by the term directly with School Milk Services Ltd, contact information is available in the school office.
