Field To Food
Field to Food
Recently, the Beech class embarked on an educational journey to Bath and West Showground for a Field to Food event. The venue buzzed with excitement as approximately 1400 primary school children enjoyed hands-on experiences of the food production process.
From planting seeds to understanding soil composition, from churning butter to examining various types of flour used in bread-making, from watching sheep wool turned into yarn to learning about farm machinery, children were busy experiencing new and exciting things all day. Children also learnt many facts about animals, such as cows, chickens, and sheep, from the farmers.
Children indulged in delectable treats such as yoghurt, strawberry ice cream, cheese and gingerbread, adding a deliciously rewarding dimension to their learning experience.
It was an exciting day out, and the children learnt a lot about the local farming community and where our food comes from.
Some of the children even made it onto ITV News please see link here https://www.itv.com/watch/news/pupils-take-part-in-the-annual-field-to-food-learning-day/tpf28s2
