Testimonials from Parents:

‘Shoscombe Primary is a gem of a school tucked away in a quaint and quiet Somerset village. Across six years as a parent I’ve seen my eldest daughter grow and prosper to become a confident, worldly conscious young lady – and the foundation of this development is Shoscombe’s positive attitude and approachable staff. Christian values are taught in a contemporary manner, with children of all backgrounds welcomed and treated equally. Learning is thorough but fun. And school-wide events to celebrate Christmas, Easter and more ad hoc occasions – such as discos and sports day – always raise smiles among children and parents alike. My daughter started at Shoscombe as a timid introvert who, throughout her reception year, found it difficult to leave my side in order to enter the classroom each morning. Five years later, she jumped on a minibus one Sunday sporting a wide smile – en route to Bordeaux for a school exchange trip. No clinginess, no fear. Four nights without mum or dad ensued, and she returned home a truly independent nine-year-old, full of stories about her family-free French adventure. Such a transformation was unfathomable during that attachment-heavy reception year, and is all down to Shoscombe’s meaningful values and uplifting outlook.  Her education has been first-rate too. But it’s the relationships and life lessons cultivated at this wonderful place that have made me treasure it, and know that I’ll carry Shoscombe in my heart long after the no-longer-little lady has advanced to big school. I cannot recommend it highly enough.’ Parent of children in Year 5 and Year 2

‘Since her first days in Reception to now her final months in Year 6, my daughter has thoroughly enjoyed her learning journey at Shoscombe School, making great friends, learning new skills and experiencing many different activities and trips. Situated in this lovely country village, Shoscombe School offers a nurturing and positive environment for our children to learn with experienced yet friendly teachers. As well as traditional lessons, our children also enjoy forest school, school chickens, an allotment and gardening club and much more – all enriching their learning experience.  It will be a sad day in the summer to leave this family-focused school before embarking on her next learning adventure, secondary school.  Thank you to all her teachers for making my daughter’s primary years both happy and enjoyable.’  A happy Year 6 parent

‘Shoscombe School is a small school with a friendly atmosphere. Both of my children really enjoy coming to school every day and are growing into independent learners which I feel is going to help them throughout their lives. They are always encouraged to do their best by a great team of inspiring teachers. What has struck me the most is seeing them change from nervous starters to self-confident and sociable children, who are able to excel in a range of different situations inside and outside of school.’ Parent of children in Year 3 and Year 5

‘Just to say the concert today was fantastic, all of the children were so enthusiastic, good and respectful of each other. It was a brilliant reflection of the school.’ Reception Parent

‘When I come to the school I see friendly helpful staff and very happy kids. Our daughter comes home happy and often talks about the things she has learnt and she is clearly progressing well. Thank you all for your hard and excellent work.’ Year 3 parent

‘Every day my son is enthusiastic to go to school and I think this reflects all the hard work you and your colleagues put in. So thank you and keep up the good work.’  Year 1 parent
