Creativity and Wonder Week

Our Core Value, ‘Creativity and Wonder’ runs through our whole curriculum and also through our expectations for how children approach learning. But this week we have had an extra special week to focus on this value – and what a week we’ve had!

Oak Class have been exploring Super Vegetables in work linked to their book and topic. They produced stunning paintings of their own Vegetable hero.

Chestnut Class children have spent time ‘wondering why…?’ and also produced cave paintings in forest school. They made their own paint from berries, paintbrushes from elder twigs and pencils from charcoal in the fire.

Beech Class have combined our value week with a ‘Schools Without Walls’ project, working with Rebecca Tantony to produce poetry about themselves and to build on their understanding of our values of empathy and respect. They have visited the Egg Theatre once and the Guidehall twice, also taking part in the poetry slam. Well done to Annie and Ben for representing Shoscombe School on stage with their poems. Those adults who supported the after-school workshop with Rebecca gained an insight into how our children have created poems, whilst also creating poems of our own.
