School Without Walls
Fancy leaving your classroom and having your lessons somewhere COMPLETELY different? For the past few years we’ve done just that through the School Without Walls (SWW) creative learning programme.
What is School Without Walls?
The SWW workshops cover the whole curriculum from a totally new perspective. And the children love it. Activities include: drama, dance, film-making, creative writing, collage, history walks and woodland craft.
In 2017 Shoscombe took part in our first School Without Walls project, Year 5 and 6 worked with local artist Edwina Bridgeman to explore places that they felt Safe in. It was such a success, that we wanted more pupils to enjoy and benefit from this unique learning platform. In 2018 our Year 4/5 class became spoken word poets with the support of Rebecca Tantomy. They used poetry to explore our core value and Erasmus theme of respect and empathy. This culminated in the children taking part in a Poetry Slam at the Bath Children’s literature festival. Erasmus contributed to the funding of this project.
For September 2019 we are planning “The hard burn” we will take our Year 5/6 class to The Egg theatre for 5 weeks where they will be learning core curricular topics, but from new and different creative perspectives.
